Beef Biryani
Beef Biryani is a fragrant and flavorful rice dish layered with spiced beef curry. This dish is a staple at weddings and celebrations in Pakistan, combining basmati rice, tender beef, and a medley of spices for an irresistible meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
- 3 cups basmati rice, soaked
- 3 onions, sliced
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp biryani masala
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 cloves
- 3 green cardamoms
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot and fry onions until golden brown. Set aside half for garnish.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add beef, red chili powder, turmeric, biryani masala, and salt. Mix and cook until beef is browned.
- Add tomatoes and yogurt, then cook until the beef is tender and oil separates.
- In a separate pot, boil rice with bay leaves, cloves, cardamoms, and cinnamon until 70% cooked. Drain.
- Layer half the rice in a pot, add the beef curry, and top with the remaining rice.
- Garnish with fried onions and cover tightly. Steam on low heat for 20 minutes.
- Serve hot with raita or salad.
