Beef Biryani

Beef Biryani is a fragrant and flavorful rice dish layered with spiced beef curry. This dish is a staple at weddings and celebrations in Pakistan, combining basmati rice, tender beef, and a medley of spices for an irresistible meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
  • 3 cups basmati rice, soaked
  • 3 onions, sliced
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp biryani masala
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 cloves
  • 3 green cardamoms
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pot and fry onions until golden brown. Set aside half for garnish.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Add beef, red chili powder, turmeric, biryani masala, and salt. Mix and cook until beef is browned.
  4. Add tomatoes and yogurt, then cook until the beef is tender and oil separates.
  5. In a separate pot, boil rice with bay leaves, cloves, cardamoms, and cinnamon until 70% cooked. Drain.
  6. Layer half the rice in a pot, add the beef curry, and top with the remaining rice.
  7. Garnish with fried onions and cover tightly. Steam on low heat for 20 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with raita or salad.
