Aloo Gosht (Mutton with Potatoes)
Aloo Gosht is a traditional Pakistani dish made with tender mutton and potatoes cooked in a rich, spiced gravy. The flavors are deep and aromatic, making it a perfect dish for family meals.
Ingredients:
- 500 g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot and sauté onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they turn brown.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Stir in chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and oil separates from the mixture.
- Add enough water to cover the meat, then bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the mutton is tender.
- Add cubed potatoes and cook until soft.
- Stir in yogurt, cook for a few minutes, and sprinkle garam masala powder.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with naan or rice.
